Courtney has litigated a wide variety of matters with SAL, sometimes in partnership with other law firms, including the boutique Hollywood/Manhattan Beach IP firm, Blakely Law Group, where she has collaborated on high stakes litigation with her friend and colleague, Brent Blakely. Courtney and Brent’s collaboration began in 2011, when Brent retained Courtney to brief (and later let her argue) a novel case before the Ninth Circuit, which resulted in a seminal opinion in trademark law on the issue of keyword advertising on the Internet. Network Automation, Inc. v. Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. 638 F.3d 1137 (9th Cir. 2011) (cited well over 500 times in published decisions, to date). In 2022, Courtney joined forces with her fellow law school classmate, Lizelle Singian Brandt of Singian Law, to bring consumer class action cases with a focus on impact litigation. SAL and Singian Law founded Class Acts Law in 2025 as a joint venture project.
